Mary J Blige may not be a reggae star but she definitely got the tens of thousands of people at Raggamuffin 2011 amped up when she hit the stage as the headline act.
The fourth annual Raggamuffin festival was on at the Rotorua International Stadium on Saturday featuring Mary J
Blige, Jimmy Cliff, The Original Wailers, Maxi Priest, Ky-Mani Marley, Che Fu and The Krates, Nesian Mystik, 1814 and Sons of Zion.
Blige was definitely one of the crowd favourites as she performed hits such as No More Drama, One and Family Affair and interacted with the audience like a pro.
She proved her Queen of Hip Hop Soul status on the night, belting out her songs with her powerhouse voice. Blige is definitely a true star.
She also told the crowd about her welcome into New Zealand with a powhiri at the Rotorua hotel she was staying at on Friday.
Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff was one of the faves too and Ky-Mani Marley was a regular fixture on stage performing not only his own set but also jumping on stage with some of the other stars.
