Happy birthday, Holly.
Oamaru's hope in the television search for New Zealand's Next Top Model, Holly Reid, was sent home from the competition in Friday night's episode, but she's still celebrating. The Countdown supermarket employee is 19 today.
The Oamaru Mail could not speak to her yesterday as she was outof town, but her mother Cathryn was "very pleased to have her home".
"She did really well," Mrs Reid said of Holly's venture into the contest.
Holly joined the finalists as a "wild card" selected by public text and internet voting. She spent two weeks with the model hopefuls before being eliminated by the judges.
Chief judge Sara Tetro said Holly was a "shining beauty", but that had not translated into her photographic work.
Holly said on the Friday episode it was something of a relief to be leaving and she still had her job in Oamaru to return to.
Mrs Reid said Holly had had "lots of fun" on the show.
She wasn't upset by her daughter having her long dark hair transformed into an auburn bob. "I love the red hair!"
Mrs Reid said she had always told Holly beauty was only skin deep, whereas inner beauty would always be there.
