No indie cred required to enjoy this album, just an appreciation of talent and melody

No indie cred required to enjoy this album, just an appreciation of talent and melody

There's an indie tinge to The Staves that challenges the prejudices that can arise from three sisters playing acoustic guitars and delivering three-part harmonies.

If I Was, the second album from these three British sisters, has Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) as a producer, which hints at their particular flavour of folk-rock. Damn It All is perhaps the most extreme example of a folk song with a twist, switching halfway through to a simple dirge.

There are more contemporary subtleties at play -- The Antlers spring to mind. But no indie cred required to enjoy these sisters, just an appreciation of talent and melody.
