"Riddick is cheesy, sexist, far-fetched, and all shades of bad."

It would be fair to say Riddick is a movie that's unlikely to make it to the esteemed heights of Oscar glory.

In reality, this testosterone-fuelled action flick may be best suited to this year's Raspberry Awards.

Riddick is the third film in the series and like the others is set in a futuristic, alien environment.Main character Richard B. Riddick is wanted by bounty hunters and mercenaries.

Pitch Black was the first, and was fairly decent. Sequel The Chronicles of Riddick was less so.

In this installment, we catch up with Riddick on a barren, sun-scorched planet with a sinister element when it rains.

He explains he's been betrayed and left for dead.

But Vin Diesel, who plays Riddick, does well at what he does best - portraying a kick-ass, muscle-strapped, hero-saves-the-day character. Even more so when it appears all hope is lost.

The movie has flavours of alien mega-movie Prometheus and fans of that movie could enjoy this if they have lower expectations.

Although it's not a comedy movie, there are some great laugh-out-loud moments. I just don't think they were intended.

Riddick is cheesy, sexist, far-fetched, and all shades of bad.

But despite all these terrible things, it's still entertaining and an easy-to-enjoy flick.

Riddick is far from romantic date material but for those who have had a tiresome, stressful day at work, and could really do with a piece of easy entertainment that doesn't require much thinking, then Riddick is perfect.

Blokes who enjoy a good action/thriller flick that doesn't necessarily make sense will also enjoy.
