Hundreds of disappointed Meat Loaf fans have taken to the internet to let the ageing rocker know their feelings on his decision to not take to the stage in Tauranga on Friday night.

Meat Loaf took to Facebook to tell his Bay of Plenty fans he was sorry for not being able to go ahead with the show, before he went on to perform in Auckland on Saturday night.

Meat Loaf posted: I sincerely apologise for having to postpone tonight's show in Tauranga. It is the one thing I never, EVER want to do. I've gone onstage before when I shouldn't have and I regretted it because that audience means more to me than anything. We'll be back on Tuesday and promise to give a great show. Again please accept my apologies. (I am still planning on Auckland tomorrow-fingers crossed !!).

The post has 593 "likes" and 274 Facebook users had commented on it.

- Rhett Cotter: See you Tuesday Meat! Looking forward to a great show!

- Jac Anderson: So gutted not seeing you tonight, was so looking forward to it, please be on tomorrow night. as me and my best friend are coming to meet and greet you in Aucks. otherwise life really is a lemon.

- Sharlene Howe: Sadly I'm going to miss out cause I can't do Tuesday night too far to travel on a work day. Hope you feel better soon.

- Tesh Matthews: cant wait till tuesday you take care xoxo.

- Jo Clements: I think I am doomed never to see you! I missed you back in the 80's when Sweetwaters cancelled and then last night in Tauranga. Unfortunately due to work commitments I won't be able to attend the rescheduled show on Tuesday. Every wish for your speedy recovery to good health. Just wish we had all been told sooner of the postponement rather than waiting for everyone to get in the stadium, buy the food and merchandise and then have to leave again! Good luck for the rest of your tour.

- Sue Rawlinson: Get better first and foremost ... have waited over 20 years to see you in concert - a few more days certainly won't be a deal breaker!!! Rock on Auckland !!

- Krystal Culver: Really wish I could have seen you perform. Can't make it to the rescheduled show :( but health always comes first).

- Trudy Murray: Was gutted the concert Cancelled! Was taking my son to his first Meat Loaf concert an super excited to let him experience the Magic of Meat Loaf!

- Paul Friedrich: Hey Meat ... was disappointed on Friday at the Tauranga concert ... My wife and I started dating in 78 to the sounds of "BAT OUT OF HELL" still have the original LP ... Definitely will not miss Tuesday night, taking our seventeen year old son along with us ... Your music will never die in our household.

- Kylie Braybrook: My husband & I were absolutely gutted you had to cancel Tauranga, but health comes first. Would much rather see on stage healthy and rearing to go. Sadly we can't travel back to Tauranga on Tues night. But we had great weekend anyway & it was good to get out of Gisborne for a few days. Take care & get well. I hope Tues night goes off in Tauranga!
