Having just finished a whirlwind tour of France and England, Matt Stalker & Fables are set to take the stage at the Okere Falls Store.
The trio, led by singer/songwriter/musician Stalker, draw musical influence from indie-pop artists Fionn Regank, Kings of Convenience and Jeff Buckley. They describe their sound as chamberfolk.
Together with cello and piano player Jenny Nendick and Baz Crosby on drums and percussion, the group are seasoned live performers who have chosen New Zealand to release their debut album, The man who said this died of alchemy.
Matt & Fables have been featured on BBC6 radio's Music Show hosted by Tom Robinson in the UK. He described their song Been in the Wars as "a brilliant track".
They have also been performing shows in and around the north-east of England in recent months, including support slots for Tennessee's Lauren Pritchard and Brighton artist KLAUS, who described Stalker on his Facebook page as "the best new musician I've heard".
Matt & Fables will perform a free concert on Saturday night at Okere Falls Store on State Highway 33 from 6pm-9pm. Playing in support will be New Zealander Katie Scott and an unplugged performance by band Fuser.
