New Zealand Book Month and Rotorua's WriteUP Here in 2013 campaign, running throughout March, has plenty to offer locals.
From today to March 23 the Rotorua District Library will host a programme of walk-in screenings of The Hindsight Series. Created by local film maker Kerry Fowler, each episode focuses
on a different Rotorua personality who has either written a book or had a book published about them.
For a full list of screening times and dates please check at the library.
Take Note in Rotorua is focusing on New Zealand children's books during the month of March and will be holding a special children's day event from 11am to 3pm at the bookstore in the Central Mall on Saturday. Local author Natalie Newson's books will be read by her father and two performing poets from the Rotorua Mad Poets Society will read some favourite stories and poems.
If you prefer poetry to film, or if you just like being in the spotlight, then you won't want to miss the Open Mike Community Poetry Reading on Friday. Hosted by the Rotorua Mad Poets, the event will take place from 6pm until 7pm at the Rotorua Library cafe. All poets, mad or otherwise, are invited to come along and read some of their favourite poetry.
