If you've ever been curious about how people manage to walk on stilts, you could try your luck at a stilt-walking workshop this weekend.
The workshop is part of the Rotorua Entertains project, which is hosting several workshops to give talented Rotorua individuals an opportunity to be a part of majorevents such as the Rugby World Cup.
Salsa, face painting and juggling workshops are all set to be held within the coming weeks.
The stilt workshop will be held on Saturday for the second time.
Nicola Glasgow was a student at the first one and said it was a great way to challenge yourself.
"I'd never done it before but I'd always been curious about how people walk around on them."
She said it was a bit scary at first, especially when tutor Julie Voss taught them how to fall properly.
"I was amazed when she told us we'd all be up walking around within two hours."
Ms Glasgow said she planned on going to Saturday's workshop.
"I'd like to keep practising and get my skills up there."
She said she'd be keen to be a performer at local events when she was good enough.
Co-ordinator Jill Walker invited anyone who was keen to go and give it a try.
"Lots of people get up on the first go," she said.
Mrs Walker said it would be a fun event.
"It's good for a challenge," she said. Events manager Martin Croft said the project was designed to get people involved in free workshops with the hope that if they enjoyed themselves they might want to be entertainers at events in the city.
"It's a real good opportunity to be a part of the Rugby World Cup," he said.
Saturday's workshop is free for anyone over 11 who is keen to learn a new skill and no previous experience is necessary.
It starts at 10am at the Rotorua Arts Village on Hinemaru St and runs until midday.
