Former Rotorua musician Seth Haapu has received the reception of a star after opening for international pop sensation Adam Lambert.
Haapu said he had an amazing experience after performing as the opening act for Lambert's one New Zealand concert at the Trusts Stadium in Auckland at the weekend.
"It was awesome, Iloved it," Haapu told The Daily Post.
Haapu said the news he was to open for the former American Idol contestant came as "quite a surprise" and he had a few nerves on the night.
"I was quite nervous beforehand because of being relatively unknown," he said.
"But the crowd was really responsive, everyone was so excited.
"There were lots of screaming girls, it was great," he said.
Haapu said his nerves disappeared once he was on stage and he thoroughly enjoyed performing.
"It was amazing," he said.
Haapu only got to meet Lambert briefly before the pop star went on stage to perform - just enough time for Haapu and his band to have a group photograph with him.
The weekend's performance had been a great opportunity, Haapu said.
"I've never done a show of that magnitude," the singer said.
"Hearing the screams of the people - and not expecting them - and just seeing the people really enjoy it, it makes it all worthwhile and so rewarding. "The coolest part was the crowd getting into it."
Haapu performed Bones and his latest single Stereotype- the music video of which premiered on C4 yesterday, as well as six new songs, which the crowd really enjoyed, he said.
