A touring European musician is heading to Rotorua and locals have the chance to have him perform a private concert at their place.
Andre Manella is a Swiss singer/songwriter and loop artist who is touring New Zealand on his solo album release tour.
He'll be playing two shows - oneat the Belgian Bar next Friday night and one at Brew Bar next Sunday afternoon - but is auctioning off his Saturday night concert on Trade Me.
He said he's done about 20 gigs around the country which have been auctioned off.
The idea came about when Manella realised the best parties were always at someone's house, so he decided that was the best place to perform.
He's had anywhere from 20 to 100 people turn up at the gigs, which are always arranged at the last minute as the auction closes around lunchtime the day of the gig.
Manella said those interested in bidding could hear more of his music - described as original funky electro-acoustic folk - at his gig at the Belgian Bar on Friday night.
"We always wait until lunch [on the Saturday] then open the email and see where we are going."
Manella performs as Sonic Delusion and his music incorporates triggered electronic drum sounds with the acoustic beats of his cajon (Peruvian drum), and an array of guitar effects.
Looping allows Sonic Delusion to add and subtract voice, bass lines, rhythm and tones to his songs.
