Ever fancied yourself taking part in a mass choreographed dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller?
You can as part of Rotorua's first Zombie Walk next month.
A Facebook page is inviting people to don their make-up, bandages and other living-dead attire to walk through the main city centre. Organiser Layla Robinson said thewalk was a fun event that would be held close to Halloween on October 31.
"I own a DVD store and the most popular section is horror and we always do something for Halloween," Ms Robinson said. "I've seen Zombie Walks on YouTube and people really get into the zombie mode."
Zombie walks or marches had taken place worldwide, with Michigan holding the record with a 4000-strong gathering in 2008. Already there are 95 people on the Facebook page who are willing to take part. "We wouldn't mind a few more people on board and it will be similar to a flash mob. I'll text or email people the details closer to the time.
Ms Robinson said a small registration fee would be charged with the money donated to the Brain Injury Association. "Zombies have been eating brains all these years and now it's time to give back," she said.
While many details are being kept secret for now, Ms Robinson did reveal a mass choreographed dance of Thriller would be held.
"We're going to try to arrange smaller events leading up to it but anyone interested in taking part can join the Rotorua Zombie Walkers on Facebook."
