A new season is a great time to update your wardrobe. Take a look at the latest trends in menswear to help you compile a spring shopping list.

Dressing up
Double-breasted suits are making an appearance this spring. If you delve into this trend, take care that yours is fitted properly. It should be short in the body and fitted well around the waist. Subtly patterned suits are also in fashion. If you're after something for a more casual
weekend night out, look for a good quality leather bomber jacket to team with some light-coloured trousers.

Dressing down
After a few years of skinny-fit pants and slim-cut shirts, the move to a more relaxed look is likely to be a welcome one. Loungewear has been all over the runways, with slightly baggier, drop-crotch pants, like these Witchery jeans, and shorts. Team with a hooded jacket. Some designers have recently featured pants that stop at the ankle, either rolled or cut to 7/8 length.

Shoes
Canvas sneakers are back in a big way, whether you're going casual or keeping them bright white and dressing them up a bit. I really like this understated camo style by TOMS - a bonus is that, for every pair bought, they donate a pair to a child in need.

Accessories
There are lots of quirky retro-inspired options around, from this cute bow tie to heavy spectacles and sunglasses. Don't be afraid to make your accessories a feature.

Hair
Sara Carswell, winner of the Men's Image Award at the L'Oreal Colour Trophy awards, says: "The trends for spring are sharp, polished looks, keeping it super short at the sides; clean fades, with the top worn slick or textured." She recommends L'Oreal Professionnel Homme Wax or Redken Work Hard Power Paste.
