The Exponents 30 Year Anniversary Concert Tour is coming to Rotorua.
Celebrating the three-decade milestone, the group - formerly The Dance Exponents - will tour from March and Rotorua will host the show on March 30 at the Civic Theatre.
Frontman Jordan Luck can't wait to get on the roadand visit some of his favourite haunts with the rest of the band members - Brian Jones, Michael "Harry" Harallambi and Dave Gent. All have recently celebrated their 50th birthdays.
"A 30th Anniversary Tour? I never saw that coming," Luck said. "From happy adversity to sublime celebration, I'm just pleased we're alive. We have always been in touch."
"Being 30 years old seems like being a pup. The songs however seem like they were written today or at least in the last week. That is the way I imagine we will play them too."
Luck said Harallambi and Gent were in impressive health.
"Harry is still a skateboarding genius and David musters his llamas every morning. Brian has been dedicating his time to The School Of Gretsch where he tutors," he said.
Co-promoter Brent Eccles was excited to be involved with the upcoming tour, saying the band was much loved by New Zealanders.
Along with Rotorua, the band will also play in Opotiki, on April 3 at the Deluxe Theatre and at the Whakatane Hotel the following day.
The Exponents' major hits include Why Does Love Do This To Me, Who Loves Who The Most, Victoria, I'll Say Goodbye (Even Though I'm Blue) and Whatever Happened To Tracey - part of the fabric of life for generations of Kiwis.
Meanwhile, to further celebrate the tour, today they release Why Does Love Do This To Me: The Exponents Greatest Hits a collection of their 24 biggest hits.
This release includes a brand new track It's Rugby which was recorded specifically for the album.
The tour starts in Timaru on March 9 and finishes in Whangarei on April 10.
