The Laughing Samoans are visiting Whakatane this Saturday for a fun-packed comedy show.

New Zealanders of Samoan descent, Eteuati Ete and Tofiga Fepulea'i have been producing comedy acts since 2003 and have since become a big hit internationally, selling out many of their first shows.

Ete and Tofiga are travelling New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea and the United States for their Funny Chokers tour.

They produce a new show annually and will be coming to Whakatane this Saturday with their latest instalment.

The Laughing Samoans dress in costume, playing a variety of different characters in a number of skits.

The show opens with character Aunty Tala auditioning for a TV talent show and ends with Suavai doing his Elvis impersonation.

Ete and Tofiga are also bringing back some old favourite characters from previous shows including Sam and Tony, Paul and Victor, and Bryan and Jonathan.

Sam and Tony talk about life, Paul and Victor about the holidays, teachers and the latest dance moves, while Bryan and Jonathan in Island Time return with an adaptation of the Little Red Riding Hood story.

The show also introduces some new characters.

Whakatane District Council events manager Mike van der Boom said he thought the Laughing Samoans would be great to see as they were hilarious.

"I thought it was pretty cool they were coming here, they are pretty well known. I was listening to them on the radio a while ago and thought they were hilarious, they had me cracking up laughing. Anyone who likes a good laugh should head along."

Mr van der Boom said the duo had performed in Kawerau last year so would already have a fan base in the Eastern Bay.

The Laughing Samoans will be performing shows at 6pm and 9pm this Saturday. Both will be at the Liberty Life Centre, 65 Wairaka Rd, Whakatane.
