Turbo the snail picks up the pace to try and win the race.

Turbo the snail picks up the pace to try and win the race.

Has there ever been an instance in movie history when a garden snail has been a cinematic hero? I'm thinking not, until now.

Theo/Turbo (Ryan Reynolds) shows the snail community that you can achieve anything if you are determined enough.

Turbo has always wanted to be a speed demon but being born a snail hasn't exactly been conducive to achieving that aim.

Turbo wanted to, one day, race in the Indianapolis 500 and was mocked by his friends and family for such a dream.

But a freak chemical accident changes all that. Turbo now has the ability to turn on incredible bursts of power when needed and he goes from an average snail to a freakish racer.

With the help of brothers Chet and Tito, who see Turbo as a promotional tool for their takeway cafe, interest starts to build in his Indy 500 dream.

The doubters from his snail community do not believe he should have ever left the garden and has no idea he has what it takes to compete in the Indy 500.

But Turbo is one determined snail and he wants his dream - no matter the cost.

Turbo is an endearing little creature with a huge heart.
