Fans of award-winning musical Chicago can soon buy tickets for the Rotorua production.

Pre-sale tickets have already gone on sale to members and friends of the Rotorua Musical Theatre for its production of one of the longest-running shows on Broadway.

The Rotorua production runs from April 19 to May 4 - 12 shows including two matinees - at the Casa Blanca Theatre, with the character, Mama Morton to be played by well-known New Zealand singer and actress Tina Cross.

Director Richard Marshall described the show as having a strong cast, "show-stopping" songs and "the most astonishing dancing you've ever seen".

In the story, ambitious chorus girl Roxie Hart is sent to prison for murdering her lover and trying to pin it on her hapless husband Amos. She meets Velma Kelly, a headline star and also a murderess and the duo team up to form an unusual nightclub act which they hope will keep them in the public eye.
