Warehouse Rotorua has given a new car seat to the local Plunket branch after car-seat regulations came into force this month.
Warehouse store manager Sally Rison said as a region covering the Bay of Plenty/Waikato area, each store chose to donate a seat to Plunket as part of their workto support the local community. The seat is worth $180 and will go to a family in need in the region.
The Government passed a new Land Transport (Road User) rule increasing the mandatory age for child restraints from 5 to 7. It took effect from November 1.
Under the new law, children aged from 7 to 8 will need to use a restraint if there is one available in a vehicle. The previous law stated children must use car restraints until they were 5 and then up to 7 if there was a restraint available.https://zen.nzherald.co.nz/v2/images/datepicker.png
