American singer Mary J Blige - affectionately known as the queen of hip hop soul - is headed for Rotorua.
Website Pollstar.com has listed tour dates for the legendary songstress - including one at the Rotorua International Stadium on February 5, 2011.
However, Rotorua's Events and Venues operations manager Crispian Stewart saidBlige's performance was "news to him" but she was most likely part of Rotorua's Raggamuffin festival contingent.
Raggamuffin is a festival that attracts tens of thousands of people from Rotorua and across the country.
According to the website, reggae superstar Jimmy Cliff is due to play at the same venue on the same day.
Andrew McManus Presents is the promoter for Rotorua's annual Raggamuffin festival and general manager Leesa Tilley said she could not confirm whether Blige would be part of the line-up as they were still negotiating venue dates with the Rotorua District Council.
Mr Stewart told The Daily Post the information listed on the Pollwire.com would be adjusted because details were yet to be confirmed.
Listings on US and British websites have stated she will be embarking on a world tour next year called Mary J Blige 02 and is scheduled to play in Rotorua in February.
Blige has recorded eight multi-platinum albums which have sold 50 million copies worldwide. Her hit songs have included Family Affair, Not Gon' Cry, Rainy Dayz, Ooh!, Not Today, Be Without You and a successful collaboration with U2 on the track One.
Mary J Blige was meant to perform in New Zealand in June 2008 but the date was pushed back to November because of exhaustion.
However, scheduling problems meant the New Zealand and Australian tour had to be cancelled.
