Tiny Ruins Holly Fullbrook and Bic Runga.

Tiny Ruins Holly Fullbrook and Bic Runga.

Bic Runga has long been a national treasure, although quieter of late with family commitments. Singer - songwriter Hollie Fullbrook has garnered an International audience over the last couple of years in her Tiny Ruins guise.

Originally from Bristol Hollie landed in Auckland when she was ten, with her family and her cello. While vocally she reminds me of the purity in the voices of the likes of Judy Collins, Joan Baez or Joni Mitchell it was actually British influences who helped shape her vocal style. Sandy Denny, Lindisfarne, Irish music, and the melodies and lyrics of the Beatles.
Hollie spent most of 2014 on the road with Tiny Ruins and more recently on the back of their latest inspirational album Brightly Painted One.

Out of the blue a few weeks back Hollie received an email from Bic Runga suggesting they embark on a tour together. With a baby due in September Bic was operating on a limited time line so the tour has come together quickly.

It's hard not to be excited about the prospects with Bic and Hollie doing their own thing as well as collaborating on each others hit songs and road testing new ones.

The Bic Runga and Tiny Ruins tour kicks off at Dunedin's Mayfair Theatre June 25, Oamaru Opera House June 26, Christchurch ' s Cardboard Cathedral June 27, The Wintergarden at Auckland's Civic July 3 and in Wellington at the Opera House July 4. The prospect of a night of unforgettable music awaits.
