The weather can do some nasty things to our skin. With an extra-cold winter, my skin - and no doubt yours - has been damaged by the weather becoming colder, windier and drier.
Wind-burn not only affects your lips, it can ruin your skin, too, and dry, chapped skin is
not a good look. We need to protect our skin from the environment and if you're an outdoorsy kind of gal, your skin is probably paying for it.
I recently spent two days playing netball outdoors in the wind and cold. While I had a great time, I felt like dipping my face into
a bowl of moisturiser and leaving it there for a few days. Unfortunately, this couldn't happen for the simple fact I had other things to do-and I do have to breathe.
So, I've had to sort my skin out and think I have done so. My skin is no longer dry and horrible. Sure, not spending 10 hours a day outside has helped repair it but I have also come across a product that I think has helped too -Clarins Gentle Beauty Soap.
I have quite sensitive skin, so my product-usage is limited. This bar of soap is natural and organic and has helped repair my skin since I started using it a week ago. I've basically been using it mainly around my chin, nose and forehead and I have less blackheads in those areas, it's my latest obsession.
You may think $34 for a bar of soap is a bit steep, but it probably lasts longer than your body washand it's soft enough to use on your face as a cleanser. However, you can't rely on one product to repair and improve your skin so you need to look after it.
Here are some tips to weatherproof your skin:
? Invest in a good lip balm to avoid dry, chapped lips. Take care of your lips.
? Moisturise more. If you moisturise morning and night, add an afternoon session to your routine during cold, dry, windy
weather. If you only moisturise once a day, do it twice. A thick moisturiser is good for winter.
? Wear sunscreen. It is not only for summer, you can still get burnt in winter.
? Drink lots of water. This probably won't make too much difference to your skin but if you drink plenty of water you will be healthier and hydrated, which in turn will benefit your overall health.
? Wear gloves when you go outside. Have you noticed your hands getting dry and gross during winter? Wear gloves to
give the thin skin on your hands extra protection from drying out.
