"I eventually called her back and we spoke about the role and I had to accept it on the spot which, let's be honest, I think I said 'yes' before Gina even said 'hello'."
Stringfellow said she was a fan of Home and Away and had good friends who used to be on the show.
"I used to sit at Mark Furze's [who played Ric Dalby] house in Sydney and have Todd Lascanse [Aden Jefferies] come home all covered in mess and stage make up and I was so jealous inside," Stringfellow said.
"I was pretty lucky when I moved to America. Mark was living with me and another Aussie musician and watching him through his craft really helped me a lot.
"My family used to Skype us sometimes just to say 'hi' to Mark."
Stringfellow is now based in Sydney but spent three years in the US.
The actress and model is not sure how much she can reveal as the episode she appears in doesn't air until April 14 in Australia.
"It was a pretty awesome experience. I played alongside Ada [Leah Patterson-Baker] and that was unexpected, we joked [and] had many laughs ... even after we finished the scenes, both Ada and the other members of cast congratulated me on doing such a good job," Stringfellow said.
"I expected to fall over my words but it didn't happen at all. It was fluid, really fun. I can't wait to get back on set."
If the powers-that-be behind Home and Away like her performance, she will be given a recurring role.
Stringfellow is no stranger to the limelight. In the past year alone she has landed the lead in upcoming Australian feature film Calendar Girls and filmed more than nine commercials for brands such as OPSM, XXXXGOLD, KFC and Channel V (a music network) in Australia and New Zealand.
She also won the Australian title for Miss Australia to compete in the Fashion TV Swimsuit Pageant in May this year.
