Nixon said making the single and video was a lot harder than they expected.
"It was a three-day shoot and we worked until 4am three nights in a row, but even though it was long hours we had a lot of laughs," he said.
"Really, while we've been making the video and recording the single, we've been treated like rock stars - it's been amazing."
A Bit Nigel have some gigs around Rotorua and Taupo over summer and will be heading to Auckland in 2014 for study, work and to keep on making music together.
The single and video shoot by Candlelight Pictures were part of the $10,000 prize, which also includes video play on youth music channel FOUR and the inclusion of the single on the current NZ On Air Hit Disc, which goes to all radio stations in New Zealand.
If the comment below from Smokefreerockquest judge and The Edge Assistant Programme Director Clint Roberts is anything to go by, radio stations throughout the country will be putting it on high rotate:
"I think A Bit Nigel has real potential to be New Zealand's next big thing - they're a young band with a fresh sound, they've got originality, they've got swagger, musicality, and they are at home on the stage," he said.
