Trenz 2011, New Zealand's largest tourism industry expo, is underway in Queenstown this week.
The event is being attended by 280 exhibitors and about 300 international buyers and media.
Tourism Industry Association's Tim Cossar welcomed media delegates at a press conference yesterday explaining some of the new initiatives at this year's event.
"We
are trying a few new things, our venue is smaller than we are used to and the scenery is absolutely stunning."
The expo is being held at the Queenstown Events Centre.
Its new format includes inspirational business speakers before the day's meetings and appointments begin and an afternoon of familiarisation events for all delegates.
"Exhibitors are in smaller booths and I'm sure we are going to get some interesting comments about that. But it has been over-subscribed, which is fantastic in these times."
Cossar said new products and new exhibitors continued to join the expo, with 2011 welcoming 23 new operators and 50 new offerings.
"Operators have the very real belief that they have the products and the experiences and the opportunity to tourism will play an even bigger part in the New Zealand economy."
