Local company The Wedding Guy is having a great year, with a win in three categories of the 2013 Wedding Industry Experts Awards under its belt.

Earlier this week, it was named the best wedding celebrant and the best wedding planning company in New Zealand and its Rotorua Wedding Booklet - published for the first time in 2012 - was named the best e-book.

This booklet was created to be a convenient way for time-starved brides to access wedding and special events professionals in Rotorua and the greater Bay of Plenty region. Wedding Guy director and celebrant Peter Duncan has big plans for its future.

"We want it to be recognised as the number one wedding booklet of its kind in New Zealand. We'll continue to build the brand of the booklet and try and keep ahead of our competitors by refining the booklet to meet the changing needs of the market," he said.

Mr Duncan and wife, Valeta, plan to franchise their company by 2015 and are working to develop a continuing relationship with the Darling Harbour Wedding Show in Sydney.

While Australia is one of The Wedding Guy's key markets, Mr Duncan said they're not attracting as many people from across the Ditch as they could be, so using the direct flights between Rotorua and Sydney was important.

"We'd like to have a 'sister show' relationship to utilise the Rotorua-Sydney direct link we enjoy by way of Rotorua having its own international airport."

The Wedding Guy also runs the annual Hitched show in Rotorua. The show is on June 2.
