Taupo businesses and the Taupo District Council have put together emergency kits, designed specifically for businesses, but also available to households.
Council emergency manager Phil Parker said firms had an obligation to look after staff, which includes having the basic necessities on hand should they be stranded at work byan earthquake or storm, but putting a kit together often gets put in the "some day" basket.
