Rotorua chartered accountant and conservationist John Green is among 144 chartered accountants worldwide to be awarded a top accounting honour that recognises outstanding service to the profession.
He has been named a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CAANZ).
"A fellowship recognises the outstanding achievement and contribution of members to the accounting profession," said New Zealand CAANZ head Kirsten Patterson, who noted that the fellowships were conferred by members.
"Our 2016 Fellows highlight the wide-ranging pro-bono work done by members for local community organisations, often drawing on their professional knowledge and experience."
Mr Green started his career in Price Waterhouse and gained world-wide experience in Johannesburg, San Francisco, Sydney, Melbourne and Wellington, where he was senior audit partner and director of the management consulting business in New Zealand.
