Contractors have completed most of the work on covering Rotorua's Central Mall and will be off-site for at least three weeks.

Pukeroa Oruawhata Trust client manager Peter Faulkner, of Deloitte, said builders would return early in the new year as there was still work to be done on new premises on the northern side of the new Paper Plus.

He said he was not able to name the retailer going into the new premises at this stage.

However, Glassons is expected to move into its new premises in the mall next week.

Mr Faulkner said negotiations were also continuing with a potential retailer for the former Mitre 10 building and he hoped to be able to confirm the retailer in the new year.

He said the realignment of the road had been completed and work was being done to provide additional car parking.
