Everybody involved in Waiariki Institute of Technology's business and tourism school knows Mina Paul and Tracey Fitzgerald - and they know everybody.
They are the first faces students see when they arrive and they process all of the paperwork for each student and member of the teaching staff.
As the administration manager,
Fitzgerald told The Daily Post her team was essential to running the school.
"Without being too cocky, we are indispensable - and that's true of all administrators."
Her team of 2.5 staff meet all the administrative needs of the school's 450 students and its staff - from collecting enrolment forms, to receiving and returning assignments and putting students in touch with other administrators around the campus to organise allowances and other aspects of their studies.
She said her team felt a sense of satisfaction at graduation time after having been so involved in students' daily lives.
"You feel like you have played a part in their success. You do get to really know them."
Paul has been with Waiariki for 18 years and says she enjoys the variety.
"Each day is different. Students have different needs and these change at different times of year. It's all about student support and tutor support."
She said international students had quite different needs to domestic students and often needed more "pointing in the right direction" as they were in a new environment.
People skills are what she rates as the top requirement for administrative work.
"That's the part I enjoy," she said.
