APN News & Media - parent group of The Daily Post - has appointed former Telecom executive Matt Crockett as chief development officer.
This is a new position reporting directly to chief executive Brett Chenoweth.
Crockett will lead corporate strategy, new business development and major digital initiatives for the group.
Chenoweth said
the creation of the role was part of repositioning APN for growth. He described Crockett as "an impressive senior executive" with extensive experience in similar roles across a range of industries in both Australia and New Zealand.
Crockett's most recent position was as Telecom's wholesale and international division chief executive. During his seven years with Telecom, Chenoweth said, he had gained significant digital media experience.
"I think there is tremendous opportunity in the media sector and that APN has a unique portfolio of well-positioned assets."
