Serious crash closes State Highway 30 near Rotorua for several hours

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash which saw State Highway 30 near Rotorua closed for seven hours.

The crash involved a motorcycle and a truck and happened about 2.45pm on Thursday.

One person was flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition, a St John spokeswoman said.

The road was closed near Whirinaki Valley and Nicholson Rds but reopened about 10pm.

The Serious Crash Unit was sent to the scene.
