A person has been left with serious injuries after a gun incident near Rotorua.

A police spokeswoman said officers received a report of a firearms incident near Rimu Cres, in Minginui, south of Rotorua, around 6.30pm yesterday.

One person was seriously injured and transported to Rotorua Hospital.

It did not appear to be suspicious and no one else was being sought in relation to the incident.
