Car crashes through fence in Rotorua after allegedly fleeing police

A car has crashed through a fence on Pukehangi Rd in Rotorua after allegedly fleeing police.

A witness, who did not wish to be named, said the car crashed through a ponga fence near the intersection with Sunset Rd about 7.15pm tonight.

She said she had pulled over moments earlier to let a police car pass.

A police media spokesman said police had signalled for the driver to stop due to the manner of driving observed. The driver allegedly fled before crashing.

He said no one was injured and the car had been removed from scene.

No-one was injured. The car has been removed from the scene.

He said one person was in custody.
