Multiple injuries in three car Bay of Plenty crash

At least nine people have been injured, one seriously, in a three car crash near Paengaroa tonight.

Police and emergency services are at the scene on State Highway 33 between Rotorua and Tauranga.

The crash happened about 9.45pm.

Police said one person has serious injuries with the other occupants injuries ranging from moderate to minor.

The road is closed as both lanes are blocked and will be for the next four hours.

Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
