The appointment of three senior staff who will join chief executive Jack McKerchar as the new Kaipara District Council (KDC) executive team is expected to cost ratepayers an additional $250,000 this year.
The trio start work on July 1.
Restructuring earlier this year saw six of the council's management team made redundantwith leave to apply for the three newly created executive positions.
One of the top jobs, general manager operations, has gone to John Burt, who until recently was commercial general manager at Adshel NZ, a street furniture advertising business.
Mr Burt had experience across industry sectors specialising in operations, logistics management, people leadership and commercial leadership.
Mr Burt's responsibilities will include infrastructure, community spaces, regulatory activities and emergency management.
Glennis Christie, formerly with the Auckland Council, has been appointed general manager policy and governance. She had a wide range of financial expertise.
Former KDC policy and governance manager Barbara Ware has been appointed corporate services manager. She has experience of corporate services management in governmental and private sectors.
This role has responsibilities for all administration functions, customer services and libraries.
"We have been very fortunate with the calibre of candidates attracted to these positions," Mr McKerchar said.
"The council is going to have a level of expertise not usually available to councils of Kaipara's size."
The reorganisation was focused on lifting the council's performance for its customers and ratepayers as well providing better support to the councillors.
"The aim of the council is to be the best little council in New Zealand and the reorganisation is the first step in achieving that goal," Mr McKerchar said.
"We have the staff, we have the will and now we have the organisation and leadership to achieve this," he said.
The new executive team will operate through a series of new activity managers whose appointments are yet to be announced.
