SH1 near Wellsford closed after fatal crash between vehicle and truck

One person is dead following a crash in Wellsford.

The crash involving a truck and vehicle happened on State Highway 1 about 8.20am.

Police said the driver of the vehicle died at the scene and diversions remained in place while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene between School and Bosher Rds.

“We anticipate the road will likely reopen after lunchtime.

“Police continue to advise motorists to allow additional time to reach their destinations.”

Northbound traffic is being diverted through School Rd, while southbound traffic is being diverted via Bosher Rd.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said three people were taken to North Shore Hospital, one in a serious condition and two in moderate condition.

Two ambulances, an operations manager and a rapid response unit went to the crash.
