Crashing into two vehicles while trying to leave a pub carpark tipped off staff at the tavern that a Whangarei man may be over the legal alcohol limit.
Shannondon Heremaia TOKI is now under supervision, and has been disqualified from driving, for his fifth drink-driving conviction.
Toki, 36, security officer, appeared in
Whangarei District Court recently on a charge of driving with excess breath alcohol for a third or subsequent time.
The police summary of facts to the court said Toki was in the carpark of the Tikipunga Tavern about 7.45pm on September 22, 2010.
As he tried to leave the carpark he crashed into two vehicles and tavern staff called police.
A test showed Toki had a level of 770 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath, almost twice the legal adult limit of 400mcg.
He was sentenced to 18 months' supervision and disqualified from driving for 12 months and one day.
