The new principal of Huanui College is a leader in education, the school's board chairman says.
Philip Coombe, who is currently King's College deputy headmaster of teaching and learning, and director of studies, has been appointed Huanui College principal and will officially start in the new role next year.
"Iam excited to become a part of the Huanui community. The school is very well respected in the education world and it is a great privilege to be appointed principal. The opportunity to meet and work with the students, staff, and parents of the college is something I am very much looking forward to," he said.
Coombe replaces Peter Ackers who has been principal of the school for seven years and will remain in the principal role until the end of the school year. He has been at the school since it opened in 2010.
Ackers is expected to remain at the school as a teacher.
Huanui College board chairman Peter Ferguson said Coombe was chosen for his exceptional leadership qualities.
"We believe him to be a leader in the field of education and learning and his many years working in leadership roles will provide tremendous value to the Huanui College community," Ferguson said.
