Whangaruru Premiers have advanced to the final

In the second week of the finals format, Whangaruru Premier had their game of the season when it mattered most.

The team played cohesive, level-headed netball and led from start to finish in their game against third ranked Manawanui White to win 51-46.

Whangaruru Premier led by four goals at the end of the first quarter increasing this to be nine goals ahead at half time.

Manawanui White reduced the goal difference by four goals in the third quarter but left their run too late.

For Whangaruru Premier, Liahona Hebden at goal keep played well intercepting ball into the circle.

Reanon Hetaraka-Sadler at wing defence was also effective in shutting down the ball while Jamie Lee Tito at centre fed her shooters with accuracy.

Trina Henare on at wing attack in the final quarter added another dynamic to the game and Sophie Tua at goal attack and Morgan Taurua at goal shoot had great understanding in the goal circle with Tua showing good leadership.

For Manawanui White, Larissa Hona at centre and wing attack was elusive on attack and effective on defence getting numerous tips and intercepts.

Jaelyn Walker at goal shoot proved a good target for some high balls and Kaea Robinson at goal defence was effective in disrupting the attacks and coming up with turnover ball.

In the other game of the round, WGHS Snr 1 led from start to finish in their game against YHPJ Marist 1 to see them play off for third and fourth next week.

Leading by nineteen goals at halftime, WGHS Snr 1 won 65-33.

Teina Rihari at goal defence for WGHS Snr 1 was the standout player while Maddy Gordon at centre, goal shoot, then goal attack showed her versatility.

Leihana Shelford-Tito at goal attack and Bailey Goodman at goal shoot moved and shot well.

For Marist 1, Terrianne Takulua at goal shoot, then goal keep, had a great game while Justice Karena, playing up at wing defence in her first game in the premier grade, played well with some good ball on attack.

Active Refrigeration Fideliter 1 will now play Whangaruru Premier in the final this Saturday at Kensington's ASB stadium.

The premier reserve final between Hora Hora 1 and WGHS 10-1 will take place before the premier final.
