Boy wonder Jayden Churchill races to get his trikemobile so he can chase other youngsters circling cones on the Kensington netball courts yesterday.
The three-year-old Kensington lad was among about 35 youngsters participating in a Mairtown Kindergarten fundraising trike-a-thon.
More than 40 parents, grandparents and other adult supporters where there to sponsor
the children's efforts, cheer them on the trike track and treat them to fundraising sizzled sausages and ice blocks.
The kindergarten has three trained teachers and is licensed to take 45 preschoolers. Teacher Jance Craven said morning classes were pretty full, but there were a a few afternoon vacancies for three and four-year-olds.
Sponsors' contributions were still coming in and the amount of funds raised, to be used to buy kindergarten equipment, would not be counted until later in the week, she said.
