Northland and Black Caps fast bowler Tim Southee in action for the Vancouver Knights as they made it into the final of the inaugural Global T20 Canada tournament.

Another key Tim Southee wicket - this time of disgraced Australian opener David Warner - has seen Southee's Vancouver Knights make it into the final of the Global T20 Canada tournament.

Northland and Black Caps fast bowler Southee finished with 1 for 19 from his two overs, but it was the first ball duck of Warner, caught by Rassie Van Der Dussen, that set the Knights on their way.

The Vancouver Knights will play the West Indies B side in the final overnight of the Global T20 Canada tournament after beating the Winnipeg Hawks by 13 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis system.

The match was reduced to 13 overs each due to a late start from rain and wet grounds, and it ended with rain again falling.

After Vancouver scored 152 for five, with Gayle scoring just eight runs, and Southee making 13 off three bowls, with two mighty sixes.

Winnipeg got off to a poor start when opener and captain Warner was out for a first-ball duck from the bowling of Southee.

The Hawks were 84 for 5 after 8.3 overs when umpires stopped play due to bad light, and the match was called off shortly after.

There are six teams competing in the inaugural Global T20 Canada tournament - Vancouver and Toronto, with Cricket West Indies B Team, Edmonton Royals, Montreal Tigers and Winnipeg Hawks.

Each team features four Canadian cricketers, along with international players. Altogether 22 matches will be played in the tournament.

Warner is serving a 12-month ban from Cricket Australia for his role in the ball-tampering incident during the third test against South Africa in Cape Town in March.

Warner and former Australia captain Steve Smith, who was also banned due to the scandal, are free to play in Canada, where Smith is also making his comeback.

The tournament also sees the likes of international greats in the form of Chris Gayle, Kamran Akmal, Darren Sammy, Kieron Pollard, Kesrick Williams and Johnson Charles.
