Dr Jason Smith - I believe I can make a difference. I believe I can give you back stable leadership for our district.

Kaipara needs me as its mayor because:

Tena koutou nga tangata o te rohe o Kaipara.

I am Jason Smith and there is a reason I am putting my name forward for the Kaipara mayoralty.

It can be summed up in one word: belief.

I believe I can make a difference.

I believe I can give you back stable leadership for our district.

I believe I can bring you economic growth.

I believe I can restore employment opportunities for our Kaipara youth.

I believe I can reduce our debilitating debt.

I believe in policies — not promises, platitudes and politics. Above all, I believe in Kaipara.

And I believe I can make this happen.

At 46, I am vigorous, energetic, fit and certainly enthusiastic about driving Kaipara forward--it's been home to my family for five generations.

I am also a successful businessman and former chief executive of the Kaipara Development Agency — so I am no stranger to governance or promoting this wonderful district of ours.

But all of this will take time.

Let's not kid ourselves. So, I would like to suggest to you that we should be looking for a mayor for the long run—not just until the next council election in 2019.

We want someone who gives us the absolute promise that if successful in this election he will be there again for us in 2019—giving us the two things Kaipara doesn't have, and needs desperately: leadership and stability.

Which is why I put my name forward and why I am asking you to choose me to deliver that leadership.

To choose me…for mayor… for stability … for Kaipara.
