The Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations will hold six hui this week to listen to hapu views on the Ngapuhi settlement.

The hui come after minister Andrew Little held a public hui in Waitangi last month and two separate meetings with the two groups at the centre of Ngapuhi's Treaty claims - Tuhoronuku, the group with the Crown-recognised mandate to negotiate claims on behalf of Ngapuhi, and Te Kotahitanga, the group which opposes the recognition of that mandate.

Mr Little said his focus was now on the smaller regions and hearing from hapu at meetings in Kaeo, Ohaeawai, Moerewa, Omapere, Titoki and Whangarei on Saturday and Sunday.
