A logging truck ended up in bush about 15m down a bank after a crash near Kerikeri.
The truck, which was piggybacking its trailer, was heading uphill on Waimate North Rd just before 9am yesterday when it appeared to miss a left-hand bend, plunging down a bank on the right-hand side of the road and coming to rest in the bush.
The accident occurred as the truck was travelling south, about 200m downhill from Ake Ake Winery.
The driver was checked at the scene by St John Ambulance but was uninjured. Police, two crews from the Kerikeri Fire Brigade and roading contractors also attended.
The road was closed briefly around 2pm while a heavy-duty tow truck pulled the logging truck out of the bush.
