Two males are seen on CCTV approaching the vehicle.
One of them threw a rock or similar through the driver's door window and the other threw a lit item into the vehicle, causing it to become engulfed in flames.
The Fire Service managed to remove the vehicle, which was well ablaze, away from the nearby building to avoid it catching alight. Anyone with information can call Kaitaia Police on 09 408 6500 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The Great Kiwi Morning Tea returns
The Great Kiwi Morning Tea returns on Friday, October 27 to raise funds to support kiwi conservation projects across the country. Just get together with family, friends, colleagues, neighbours or complete strangers and hold a kiwi morning tea and ask your guests to make a donation. Just $100 is enough to save one kiwi by controlling predators across its habitat for an entire year. You can hold your event any time during Save Kiwi Month.
