The annual inter-firm tournament on September 26 ended the 2006 season in the Centennial Hall, Napier, with a good turnout of social and competition players.
The Rothmans trophy section for social players attracted 13 teams, with a new team from Bay Cuisine taking the title and trophy, after an unbeaten run on the night.
The Bay Cuisine team, consisting of Simon Wills, Grant Ball and Shaun Wills, beat the hot favourites, Bay Drycleaning, 3-1 in the final play-offs.
Bay Drycleaning team of Grant Thompson, Chris Dorsett and Blair Applegate were also unbeaten heading into the final, but met their match on the night.
The Rothmans Consolation event for teams not winning either of their two qualifying matches was won by Watties S2 after beating Sue's Gang 3-0 in the final.
The C H Slater trophy section for teams containing inter-club players attracted 10 teams, with Watties 1 winning for the sixth year in a row, and without Alan Keighley playing this time.
The Watties 1 team of Quenten Hunt, Adriaan Lotter and Rico Del Rosario were also unbeaten on the night after defeating the Chinese Christian Service Centre team of Kee Wah Chu, Glen Chan and Chris Young 3-0 in the final play-off.
The C H Slater Consolation event, for teams not winning either of their two qualifying matches, was won by the Powis Joinery team of Helen Codlin and Norm and Jayne Powis, after defeating the Jathams team of Barry Jane, Kerry Smith and Kim Blackely 3-2 in a very hard-fought final.
