Tafai Ioasa has been granted his wish ... he has the opportunity to redeem himself.
After Ioasa's Aerospread Hawke's Bay Sevens team failed to qualify for last summer's nationals in Rotorua with a sixth placing at the December Central Region tournament in Palmerston North, the first-season coach and former AllBlack Sevens player said he wanted another crack.
A 2006 Commonwealth Games Sevens gold medallist and multiple World Series title winner, Ioasa was among the reappointed when Hawke's Bay Rugby Union's representative manager Peter O'Shaughnessy recently announced his 2015 rep coaches.
Former Taradale head coach Blair Cross and Hastings Boys' High School 1st XV mentor Jack Wiggins were reappointed co-coaches of the Hawke's Bay Development side. They will be keen to improve upon their 3-win-3-loss record from last year.
Last year's Hurricanes title-winning Hawke's Bay under-16 co-coaches Stu Drew and Pouri Rakete-Stones have been promoted to the under-19 side.
They replace Napier Technical premier team co-coaches David Briggs and Steve Woods.
One of last year's Hawke's Bay under-14 co-coaches, Matt Wyatt, will be the under-16 head coach this year. Clive premier coach Andy Green will be in charge of the Hawke's Bay under-16 development team, which will take the field for the first time this season.
Former Tamatea premier coach Aaron Painter will join Andrew Hui and Jason Burkin as co-coaches of the Hawke's Bay under-14 team.
