JOHN JENKINS
Abita Pleasure: Great debut effort for second over 1200m at Te Rapa last Wednesday where she had to overcome a wide draw and then chase two tearaways in front. Kept up a strong run to be just a long neck from the winner and should not be a maiden for long.
Jetcrown's Knight: Produced an eye-catching run for fifth over 1200m at Te Rapa last Wednesday, making ground strongly down on the inside in the last 200 metres. Watch over a bit longer distance.
Shereigns: Game effort for when a close second over 2000m at Te Rapa last Wednesday where she was forced to cover plenty of extra ground from a wide draw yet still fought right to the line.
Elwood Blu: Took a while to clear traffic in the home straight over 1200m at Te Rapa last Wednesday but stretched out well once he saw daylight to finish a good fourth. Should be a good each-way bet next start.
Viaggio: Was not ridden to her best advantage over 1600m at Te Rapa last Wednesday where she was allowed to get too far back in the running. Had to weave a passage from the tail of the field on the home turn and still managed to get up for second, beaten only a short neck.
Stiletto Queen: Good debut run for sixth over 1400m at Avondale on Saturday where she did not get a lot of racing room down near the inside rail over the final stages. Impressive trial winner before that.
Pen Pal: Tried hard when sixth over 2000m at Hastings on Saturday, on a track that was far too heavy for her. Talented mare who should quickly add to her winning record once she strikes a track that is no worse than soft.
Boyotan: Was not suited by the puggy track conditions at Hastings last Saturday but still managed to come from last at the 800m to finish fifth. Should win a lot more once he strikes the right tracks.
