Maori women's sporting legend Marg Hiha is the latest recruitment to the new Basketball Hawke's Bay Board. At the new regional basketball entity's inaugural AGM this week, the former hockey great (pictured below) was officially appointed along with local businessmen and former international yachtsman Terry Simkin and financial adviser JohnSumner. The trio joined the board, led by Sport Hawke's Bay chief executive Colin Stone, in October, so their appointment was a rubber stamping exercise. Existing board members Dan Druzianic, Kerry Weston, Gerry Sullivan, former Tall Fern Di Robertson will remain on the board while former Hawk and businessman Scott Sclater and Pettigrew Green Arena CEO Roger Coleman, along with inaugural chairman Stone, step down. The AGM was also an opportunity for development coach Shawn Dennis to outline his plans for 2007, with Basketball HB, which recorded a $12,772 profit in its first year, keen to build on its on and off court development successes. The new Basketball HBay chairman will be elected at the board meeting this month.
