Holders Havelock North Intermediate scored a convincing win over Feilding Intermediate in the Central Districts zone final of the Milo Shield girls cricket competition at Windsor Park on Thursday.
Havelock North will now meet the winners of the Wellington/Hutt region in an Interzone final to determine the semifinal/final playoff candidate in Palmerston North in early December.
Batting first, Havelock North scored 120 for two in 25 overs, Samantha Guillen topscoring with 34 not out. Kerri Burgess made 23, Olivia Gregory 20 not out and Kendl Hambly 12.
The total is the second-highest the Havelock girls have scored in two years.
In reply, Feilding Intermediate were bowled out for 60. Kristian was their topscorer with 23. Kym Hambly had 0 for 6 in 5 overs; Sanika Rangnekar 1 for 13 in 5 overs; Olivia Gregory 1-18-5, Kendl Hambly 1-2-5, Jane Bunworth 2-4-2 and Kerri Burgess 0-2-2. Kerri, Olivia and Natalie Stewart took some great catches. Meg Watson was involved in two of the five run-outs.
The Havelock girls beat Heretaunga Intermediate, Taradale Intermediate and then Masterton Intermediate to get to the zone final.
