Hastings Health Centre has mustered extra resources for its urgent care team in preparation for those needing medical attention this summer break.
With seasonal festivities in full swing, the health centre is expecting an influx of patients needing accident and medical care during the holiday.
Hastings Health Centre chief executiveAndrew Lesperance said while most people spend this time of year relaxing with family, it is a busy time for the Urgent Care team which have bolstered its numbers to cope with increasing patients.
"Traditionally Christmas Day is quiet but Boxing Day is a different story when we can see more than 100 people through our Urgent Care clinic, which includes X-ray services and casting clinic for accident-related injuries," he said.
Mr Lesperance said a team of nurses and two doctors, along with a third doctor on-call, are all prepared to cope with the busy season.
"Every day, including public holidays, people need to know they can walk in and be seen by a doctor or nurse," he said.
Whether it be urgent care for accidents, medical, pharmacy or health-related needs the Hastings Urgent Care is prepared to provide any non-emergency service.
"It's also very important for people and families who are visiting the area to know where to go, so we are asking people in the Hastings and Havelock North areas to help spread the word," he said.
